We are enjoying excellent spring weather that I hope holds throughout the coming summer. The dandelions are in full bloom in all of the hayfields making them a carpet of yellow flowers. Today is warm and sunny with an afternoon sea breeze. Actually our afternoon sea breeze will have it back down into the low 50's by sunset at this time of year. But in a month or so that will be welcome relief.
The last few weeks have been filled with a variety of fishing trips. Trout on the Saint George, bass in Megunticook and Alford Lakes and just yesterday trout in the Western Maine mountains. Some of the trips have been described in blog posts just click on the link to read the story. Overall it has been a great and enjoyable start to the season.
Last week was a photo shoot with a Joe Devenney a photographer friend from Jefferson and Chris Mathan of the Sportsman's Cabinet. Our goal was to get images for new brochures and lobby displays to use in the coming season. It was great fun and I'm sure that you will be seeing some of the images in the near future. I enjoyed working with professionals that know more than I ever will about taking good pictures.
As spring warms and you begin to make summer plans I hope that Maine Outdoors is on your list for a new outdoor memory this season. Please get in touch using any of the new media listed later in this newsletter or of course you can reply to this e-mail or simply call 1-800-203-8549 and arrange your trip today!
Over the years I have enjoyed working relationships with many of the local inns and hotels. Last winter I was approached by Dominika Spetsmann at LeVatout, a bed and breakfast in Waldoboro, about the possibility of working together on packages. After a couple of months of discussions overwhat would be best for you, I am very pleased to be offering a nature exploration package with LeVatout.
This package will have you spending your days surrounded by the sights, sounds and wildlife of mid coast Maine and enjoying the cozy, comfortable atmosphere of a quiet Maine Inn. This package has everything for a few quiet days visiting the mid coast's wild side.
You may not know that I serve as a Trustee of Unity College in Unity ME. Unity is a small college with a focus on the environment. Last weekend was graduation and as it is each year one of the highlights of my year. I enjoy seeing the graduates and their families celebrating the accomplishment and feeling the excitement of the day.
As the season gets started I am enjoying phone calls from many of you and planning your adventures for the coming season. Times have changed though and there are is a list of new ways to stay in touch.
You can now friend me on Facebook (Don Kleiner) or become a fan of Maine Outdoors there as well. I am also on Linkedin and Twitter (Don Kleiner) if you would like to stay up on the goings on here. Of course I still update the blog on the website twice a week and am available to chat on AIM, Googletalk or MSN when I am at my desk. Although desk time is getting less frequent as season gets underway.
Of course I still use e-mail and the telephone still rings in the office if you would like to plan your next trip.
Best regards,
Don Kleiner
