This afternoon continued the warm pattern of the last few days with the temperature at 50 degrees. I arrived home from meetings in Augusta at around 3. Not enough time to load the dogs for a hunting trip but plenty of time for a quick trip down to the Saint George for a little trout fishing. I arrived at the river at around 3:30 waders on and ready to go. I started in the usual pool but as I looked upriver into the smooth water I could see fish breaking the surface every now and then.

When I got up this morning the lawn and field across the street were covered with a light coating of snow. Overnight the temperatures had fallen and today is clear but chilly. It won’t be long now until it is time to get back on showshoes and see what tracks are in the woodlot.

A good part of my October is spent guiding upland bird hunters.

The colors are spectacular but the dogs are the star of the show. I was fortunate enough to guide a couple of parties this fall that took some great action shots of their hunts. Hope that you enjoy these as much as I do. Thank you Ruth Ann and Jeanie for allowing me to use your images.
