The freshwater bass have moved into the shallows and have begun to fan out beds. The males are not aggressively defending them yet but this morning the bigger fish were nearby and very willing to take a large streamer fly, like this nice largemouth did in only about six inches of water. Total on this mornings trip was a dozen smallmouth bass all over two pounds and this beauty of a largemouth. As sometimes happens there was a much bigger fish chasing this one while it was hooked trying to take the fly away. Just one more reason to love fishing in the clearest water around!
For the next two weeks it only gets better and I am ready for it.
